Introduction

Introduction

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a nation. They research a country, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

MUN aims to educate participants on the methodology of how to

  • research countries,
  • write position papers,
  • give speeches with confidence,
  • convince others that what you say matters,
  • be a member of a team and
  • how socialize confidently and successfully.

The key benefits of preparing and participating in MUN is that it he helps students develop leadership skills, research, writing, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.

Moreover, coming up with solutions that are acceptable to a majority of the representatives also inculcates skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
