CIRCULAR GENERAL No 10/AY 19-20
I hope this message finds you healthy as we continue to adjust to this new world we find ourselves living in.
Although our school is quiet these days, our work goes on during this crisis. Our mission, to provide a holistic education to our students, has been adapted as much as possible in this unprecedented time. Today our work is to help our students stay safer at home while getting the most of what is called remote learning, synchronously (using Zoom or Skype) as well as asynchronously (mainly through Skoolee and prerecorded series of classes), according to their age level and the readiness of our faculty members. Our board and faculty members are also developing on-line resources, policies and assessment strategies to help our students continue to learn, grow and connect from their homes. We have launched as well our SHS Stay Home campaign to bring the best of our students out to everyone.
There’s an expression that states, “Sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts.” That sentiment truly reflects our faculty and staff, and it is because of their dedication and caring that I am confident that we’ll get through these trying times.
I would also like to thank you for your cooperation and support which are crucial these days for the benefit of your children as well as for the continuity of our school’s mission.
In short, COVID-19 is bringing many challenges to our community, but Sagesse High School is proactively working to support those we have been entrusted to serve, mainly your children.
During this holiest week of the year, we would like to inform you that online/remote lessons will be suspended and work will not be uploaded on Skoolee for the Catholic Easter holiday, which will start on Thursday, April 9, and end on Monday, April 13, 2020, and for the Orthodox Easter holiday, that is from Thursday, April 16 until Monday, April 20, 2020.
Nonetheless, many presentations and activities prepared by the Christian Life Department will be posted during these days on our Sagesse High School’s Facebook page in order for you and your children to remain spiritually engaged. Also, we will be broadcasting Holy Week Masses celebrated by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Abdul-Sater, our Archbishop of Beirut, from Saint George Cathedral, Beirut, live on our Facebook page according to the following schedule:
- Wednesday of Holy Week on April 8, at 5:30 pm
- Holy Thursday on April 9, at 11 am
- Good Friday on April 10, at 3 pm
- Easter Sunday on April 12, at 11 am
Meanwhile, while I pray for your health and your families’ well-being, I ask you to join me in asking our Lord Jesus, the Risen from the dead, to shorten these days of Calvary, and bring forth the light of His healing Resurrection, to our beloved ones, to our beloved country, and to the whole world.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Joe Daccache, Ed.D.
