World Language Department at SHS

Lebanon is a multilingual country, and all its languages are equally valuable modes of communication. This is the very same concept that SHS builds its World Language Department on. Such a concept helps define our students’ identities. Sagesse High School promotes world languages. This comes to give students the opportunity to become linguistically and culturally equipped to Adapt with different social and cultural settings.

School Language Philosophy

In line with the Mission Statement, Sagesse High School challenges students to become «life-long learners and responsible citizens» by using the language both within and beyond school setting. The majority of the school community is a pluralistic Lebanese society that provides a wide variety of linguistic backgrounds and cultural heritage. SHS recognizes the crucial importance of the development of the mother tongue strongly linked to the cultural identity. However, students also benefit from the cultural richness of other languages such as French, Spanish and Italian to ensure a healthy cognitive development.
