CIRCULAR SEC No.2/AY 2019-2020

September 27, 2019

Dear Parents and Students,

Arrival and Departure:

One of our main social goals is to teach our students the meaning of respecting time. Respecting school schedule is our first step. Students should arrive at school between 7:20a.m. and 7:35 a.m. The school is responsible for the students from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Parents are asked to abide by the traffic rules for their safety and the safety of the students.
Parents should wait in the designated areas. They are not allowed to enter the classrooms or hallways.

Absence:

Students are expected to attend school regularly unless excused for illness, injury, serious emergency, or an office approved absence. Parents are expected to call the assistant’s office (01/872145 ext.152) by 8:00 a.m. to notify the school that their child or children will not be in school or will arrive late on that particular day.
Every absence has to be justified with the appropriate documentation to be kept in the student’s file. On the morning following the absence, the student is required to bring a note signed by his parent explaining the reason for the absence. The student must check in at the head of division’s (HD’s) assistant office to hand in the note.
In case the absence is justified, students who miss any test or quiz have to sit for a make-up test/quiz in the afternoon (The weekday will be assigned in due time.).
In case the absence is not justified, students will receive a zero on the quiz/test they have missed.

Cell Phone Policy:

Students are not allowed to bring their cell phones to school. If there is a need for Secondary students to bring their cell phones on a particular day (after the approval of the Head of Division), then they must place the cell phone in a box at 7:45 a.m. and collect it at 2:30 p.m.

If students do not abide by the policy and are caught with a cell phone during school schedule, then the following measures will be taken:

  • First infraction: The cell phone is confiscated for three days.
  • Second infraction: The cell phone is confiscated for a week.
  • Third infraction: The cell phone is confiscated for a month.

If students are caught using the cell phone, without permission, to record conversations or class discussions, access any applications, cheat, bully, video record, or photograph people, then severe measures will be taken according to the SHS discipline policy.

The school is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of mobile phones at any time on school premises.

WhatsApp groups among students are not accepted by the school administration. However, any problem faced among students on WhatsApp groups is not the School’s responsibility.

Kindly be informed that as of these 3 circulars the Secondary LP Division will no longer be issuing hard copies of the circulars.

Instead, the soft copies of the circulars will be posted on the SHS website under the following tabs: Academics> Secondary Division> Circulars or they may be accessed at the following link: http://sagessehs.edu.lb/academics/lebanese-program/circulars

Thank you,
Dany Al Soueidy
Head of Secondary LP Division

Dear Parents,

SHS recognizes the diversity of our students’ language profile and, therefore, in the Secondary Division the students will have the opportunity to learn a new language or to continue with the language they studied in the Intermediate Division.
Kindly take note that Languages at this stage are taught as cycles. This cyclic alignment ensures that students learn the language properly and efficiently. The cycles are:

  • Cycle 1: Intermediate Division
  • Cycle 2: Secondary Division

Cycle 2 is a 2-year-program that starts in Sec I and ends in Sec II.  Students are advised to complete the cycle in a particular language before shifting to another language. Students who wish to shift to another language in the middle of a cycle must fill a Drop & Add request form.
One to three levels are available in each language. A minimum of 7 students is required to run a course. Students, who do not meet the requirements of any of the languages levels offered, should take private tutoring. It is worth mentioning that in such a case, the school might offer a course for those students with additional fees.

Kindly, select one of the languages listed below by marking the box X and have your son/daughter return the slip to the floor supervisor on Monday, September 30, 2019.

Thank You

Dany Soueidy
Head of Secondary Division
