Course Selection Sheet

Dear Parents of G. 9 A.P.,

SHS recognizes the diversity of our students’ language profile and, therefore, in the Intermediate Division, students had the opportunity to learn 2 out of 4 languages. However, for the Secondary Division, students are asked to choose 1 out of 4 languages.

Kindly take note that Languages at this stage are taught as cycles. This cyclic alignment ensures that students learn the language properly and efficiently. The cycles are:

  • Cycle 1: Intermediate Division
  • Cycle 2: Secondary Division

Cycle 2 is a 3-year program that starts in Grade 10 A.P. and ends in Gr. 12 A.P. or IBDP 2.

One to three levels are available in each language. A minimum of 6 students is required to run a course. Students, who do not meet the requirements of any of the levels offered, should take private tutoring courses. It is worth mentioning that in such a case, the school might offer a course for those students with additional fees.

Kindly, select one of the languages from the attached list by marking the box with a checkmark and have your son/daughter return the slip to the floor supervisor on Monday, May 28, 2018.

Dear Parents of G.8 Students,

On Friday, March 2, 2018 all G8 students will be taking the PSAT 8/9 assessment, a test that measures reading, writing and math skills students learn in school. Your child does not need to do any special preparation for PSAT 8/9. However, it is important to eat a good breakfast and come to school focused on test day.

PSAT 8/9 will help your child gain early insight into the skills he/she will need for success in high school and college. PSAT 8/9 measures the same types of skills that are measured by the PSAT/NMSQT® and PSAT® tests students take in high school as they progress toward college.
Students participating in PSAT 8/9 will receive a paper score report at school with a unique code giving him/her access to a robust online score report.
Your child’s PSAT results will be shared with teachers and administrators in our school district, but they will not be shared with colleges or other organizations. The results will be used to help us better understand students’ strengths and weaknesses so we can help them improve areas that need additional work as they make the transition to high school.
Each student will need to bring on the test day the following items:

Two No.2 pencils
A soft eraser
A calculator
